Book Review: The Fault In Our Stars

Yesterday was a fantastic day. I finally got to actually teach in the morning (no school closing due to cold or snow for a change), we had a delicious homemade pizza and beer night with our neighbors, and between the two I had the whole afternoon to lay on the couch and read a book! Yes, a whole book!

You may have already heard of The Fault In Our Stars since it's on the New York Times #1 Bestseller list. It's also #7 on Buzzfeed's list of books to read before they hit theaters this year. I picked it up from the library after it was chosen as the February book of the month on one of my favorite blogs, A Beautiful Mess.

From the start, you know things are not good for the main character, a 16-year old girl with terminal cancer. However the author, John Green, manages to keep the story pretty light, with lots of humor,  interesting characters and insightful writing.

I'm not gonna lie, there were tears shed on my couch yesterday, but once I started reading, I could not put it down.

If you're looking for a good book to read this weekend or next, I cannot recommend this book enough. 5 stars! Two thumbs up! Now go get it!

*And just so you know, I don't recommend every book I read here on the blog - only the very best ones. In fact, I just gave up on A Beautiful Mess' January book of the month, The Interestings (Meg Wolitzer), because it was just so, well, uninteresting. So rest assured, if I recommend it, it's gonna be good. ;)

  2. I read it last summer and cried my eyes out! Soooo good! Of course with all great books, they have turned it into a movie. Here's a link to the trailer!
